The itinerary might change due to seasonal situations
Day 1 : Arrive at Ende
Upon arrival in Ende you will be greeted by the tour guide and he will pick you up and transfer to the lodge. After that you will have dinner and enjoy your free time there.
Day 2: Kelimutu – Lakes at Dawn, Hiking and Moni Village
Today you have to wake up early at 4.00 AM. Before starting the day, enjoy your coffee first and prepare yourself to see the Kelimutu Lakes at dawn. Then you'll walk to the lakes through woodland where hopefully you will hear the beautiful song of The Bare throated Whistler, arriving at the top just before dawn. See the sunrise, at the top site with a coffee, and just enjoy the whole scene and environment after walking to view all the three lakesis a magical moment. You'll enjoy your breakfast in a quiet place in the park so you can also enjoy the birds. After breakfast you will return slowly down the mountain to have coffee in the village of Moni prior to returning to the lodge for lunch. During this walk you should meet many of the Lio people, and learn about local agriculture.
Day 3: Meet The Lio People
This all day trip takes you to Ngela traditional village and its Ikat weavers and dyers, with a magnificent view overlooking the ocean. You will learn about local weaving practices, the meaning of motifs in the culture and many other facts about village life of the Lio people. After a picnic lunch, you will either go to the large village of Wolowaru, with an interesting visit to a small Keshew processing business, where you can buy organic Keshews or take a gentle escorted walk for around three hours before meeting the car and returning via Wolowaru to the Lodge. This tour will give you a good impression of the problems and lives of the Lio people.
Day 4: Ende - Transfer Out
Depart for Ende first a visit a hilltop traditional village of then further on a village where there is 60 years old mummified body in a case. The man was famous because his hair and skin would not burn when set alight by officers during the war for independence. After that you'll continue to Ende, driving down the spectacular coast with its black beaches to an impregnable traditional house in a village, Wonotobo, high above its ocean. Arriving in Ende, you'll visit the house of exile of Sukarno, Indonesia’s first President. Enjoy your lunch before heading to the airport, where you will catch your flight back home. During this tour you will get a feeling for the remoteness of some villages in the mountains, the beauty of Flores and study a bit of Indonesian history.
